I also own a classic Fletcher glass cutter, and I actually found this one easier to handle because the square block on the cutting head tracks more smoothly along a straight edge. The cuts were solid, though glass cutting definitely takes a bit of practice. If you are new to it, it is worth grabbing an old picture frame from a thrift store and practicing on scrap glass before starting your main project.I did not fill the oil reservoir, instead I simply added a drop of machine oil to the tip, which worked perfectly. Since I only use a glass cutter occasionally, I prefer not to store oil in it long term. The only downside I noticed is that the plastic case does not fully close, likely because the set screw on the cutting head sits slightly too high.

When you do it properly, you will hear a distinct sound. It took a few practice runs on scrap pieces, but once I got the technique down, it worked very well.
